An image of a gathering of shags on a rather consistently pooped upon rock. At the highest peak of the rock in the right third of the frame a shag stands, neck extended, facing the rest of the birds. The remainder of the shags are all in the left two thirds of the frame and facing towards the single bird like they are listening to a speech. The reddish-brown stone has a significant amount of green algae or mosses growing on it as do two other large rock forms at the outer edges of the frame. The foreground rock is almost entirely covered in white droppings. The out of focus ground in the background slopes upwards quickly. It appears to have the same type of reddish-brown rocks, but there is more grassy vegetation growing.

A Great Crested Grebe stands on its nest, facing to the right. The nest is made of waterweed and reeds, contains a single white egg, and floats on the water surrounded by reeds. The bird has a white breast and underparts, brown back, and black wings, It has a white face, long orange/brown cheek feathers, and a black crest on the top of its head. Its long, elegent neck is curled up rather than being stretched out.
This Great Crested Grebe may not be showing off its #LongNeck for #BirdOfTheDay but it is happy to show off its egg!
