At the death of #Charlemagne on #ThisDayInHistory in 814, his last son by Hildegard, #LouisThePious, became sole emperor (he had co-ruled since 813). His first official act at the capital of #Aachen was to destroy the collection of #pagan texts and items his father had collected.
