It's a cold, overcast day, and we're standing on a cliff edge overlooking a sheer drop to a small, sandy beach below. The sea is churned white with foam as the water rushes in and out up the shallow, dark sand. We're looking along the cliff line towards the horizon with much of our view on the right comprising the smoothly jagged peaks and troughs of the clifftop shoreline and its chalk sides. There are a handful of small patches of dark bushes growing on the rise of one part of land and some that might have caught hold in cracks in the white face of the cliffs nearest us but the only other vegetation is pale, short grass on the upper surfaces, dull with the conditions and the chilled, damp, early-feeling part of the year. On the middle of the three rises of cliff edges we can see - the tallest of the three - there are people at the very top walking, appearing as little more than dots at this distance. It feels cold, windy, and if it's not raining then spray from the sea below feels like it's still making its way up here to chill us down further.

A 2013 weekend break in #Dorset and a visit to #Lulworth during that for #MeerMittwoch this week. Out of view just to the left is the famous Durdle Door, recently seen in the second season of The Sandman standing in for ancient Greece.

We then headed along flatter land as we made our way back to Lulworth from there, finishing what was a very nice walk, if quite a bit challenging at times.

Leicestershire is pretty much as far inland as you can go in the UK. So for a change of scene we enjoyed a last minute jaunt down to the south coast on Sunday/Monday to take in some sea air, see some stunning coastal scenery and inevitably join throngs of tourists in the process. #LulworthCove
