A stunning panorama of the June 15, 2011 total lunar eclipse taken from northern Iran. The totally eclipsed, dark Moon is positioned in the center of the Milky Way galaxy, its reddish glow competing with the faint light of the nebulae and stars. Visible are the Pipe Nebula, Lagoon and Trifid nebulae, and the star Antares. This 8-exposure image showcases the impressive 100-minute total eclipse phase.
