A left lateral view of a point-mounted parasitic wasp against a grey background. Most of the body is metallic; it's greenish blue on the head, gradually transitioning through blue and then purple on the abdomen. The apex of the abdomen is black and pointed. The legs are orange and the antennae are black. The wings are a bit smokey. The genus is Epistenia, and the species is probably coeruleata.
When I was a kid I walked uphill—both ways—to school...and this wasp was probably still in #Pteromalidae.
Now, of course, it’s in #Lyciscidae, according to this paper (with an AWESOME title):
