I started my blackout a day early. The regular day is February 28, which is tomorrow.
Limiting my social media exposure to BlueSky and YouTube means I'm not being constantly inundated with ads. It's quite refreshing. I'm only on Facebook maybe twice a week for about 10min at a time, and the same with Instagram. The disconnect after the #metablackout is so nice.

having good cries today: as of last night, a day early, i left facebook and instagram. i deleted my accounts, the apps, everything.
i feel sad because i left behind friends that i had known for years, even decades. i saw last week, during the #metablackout, not many friends reached out to me.

Still trying to decide if I want to go back after the #metablackout ends. Today is the last day, and I don't know that I miss all of it that much. Some groups and a handful of people, but I don't miss any of the bullshit. If I do go back to Meta, my presence will be limited exposure.

I don’t have plans to go back in the same capacity as before. Not putting apps back on my phone and my focus is on building alternative networks and communities, both online and offline.

Xiaohongshu(Rednote) feels so genuine. I am honestly dreading my return to Meta. I have friends & people that I missed. I did notify them of this protest. I may do my content creation on there & twitch. The rules are different, however it is worth it. I am at peace on there.
How’s your #metablackout going? I haven’t logged in to any apps since Sunday. Strategizing how to uncouple it from my online world completely.
