Greek #CruiseShip #MSSeaDiamond struck a volcanic reef in the sunken #caldera of #Santorini in 2007 on #ThisDayInHistory. It sank the next day, with beaching made impossible by the steep, almost vertical shoreline of the volcano. Containment booms could not prevent the oil spill.
