This landscape photo depicts a jungle floor. There are two large half or mostly buried rocks amid the detritus typical of the ground like fallen leaves, pebbles, dirt, and small twigs. Various green leafed plants are present in abundance, no two types alike within the frame. The ones closest to the bottom of the frame are in focus while those at the top of frame of blurry or blurred out completely. On the right third of the Fram stands a Russet-naped Wood-Rail--an unlikely looking bird in many respects. He is walking along the jungle floor on his long reddish-pink legs that bend 2/3 up the leg but with a joint backwards from a human knee. His feet of the same hu have three tows each and one is planted on the floor while the other is raised up in motion. Resting on top of these legs is a medium sized body, perhaps the size of a crow if a little bit smaller. Instead of black, his face and neck are light grey going to russet, then brown, then tail feathers of black. His beak is yellow green at the point then going to yellow with a small bit of orange. His beak has dirt and other detritus on it as if he has been foraging on the forest floor. His eyes are bright red with a black iris completing his interesting presentation. He moved carefully through the forest floor and didn't seem overly concerned with my presence--perhaps associating humans with food and allowing me to get this wonderful capture.
Captured this Russet-naped Wood-Rail in #Belize on the banks of the #MacalRiver. Never saw it fly, rather it picked its way across the ground.
