A Review of Maelstrom: An RPG by Alexander Scott Some RPGs build their legend with big rulebooks, complicated mechanics, and sequels stretching over a period of years. Others arrive quietly, hidden in the cover of an innocent-looking paperback, and somehow manage to leave a lasting impact. Maelstrom, by Alexander Scott and published in 1984 by Puffin Books, is one of them. Released as part of the Fighting Fantasy phenomenon but with the difference that it was a full RPG rather than a solo gamebook, Maelstrom was an attempt at roleplaying for the masses, making it just as easy to reach as any other paperback you'd find in a bookstore.

Step into 16th-century England with Maelstrom, a historical RPG with brutal combat, freeform magic, and a touch of the mysterious! But does this forgotten classic hold up today? And where are the bloody guns?! Read our full review! ⚔️📜 #TTRPG #OSR #MaelstromRPG #TabletopGaming #HistoricalRPG
