In 2023, 597000 deaths and 263 million cases of malaria were reported globally. The Africa region has the highest burden and children under the age of 5 years accounted for 76% al malaria deaths.

SDG 3.3 calls for the int'l community to end malaria by 2030.
Despite this commitment, there is an estimated 263m malaria cases a year with 94% of these deaths and 95% of the cases in Africa.

#WorldMalariaDay on 25 April under the motto “Malaria ends with us. Reinvest. Reimagine. Reignite”, is a call to action for increased investment in research, prevention and healthcare to achieve WHO's goal of a 90% reduction in malaria cases by 2030 compared to 2015.
