Oddly, Cowley would also manage to get his hands on the original scroll. His son, Rob, remembers being home in Sherman from Harvard during the Christmas break of 1953 when his father walked into the house with the scroll in his briefcase. Cowley took out the scroll, said to his son, "Watch this," and rolled it out like a bowling ball onto the living room rug.
