A quiet moment on the prairie.
Dozens of bison rest in the low autumn sun, their breath barely rising in the cool air.

The rain left its jewelry—tiny beads stitched along beebalm, pink and violet flickering against a deep green hush.

"Is this the Krusty Krab?"
"No, it's the purple sunstar!" 🌟

This sea star prowls the ocean floor of Hudson Bay, hunting clams, mussels, and other invertebrates.

📍 Pine Point Rapids | Whiteshell Provincial Park, Manitoba

On a recent adventure through the Pine Point Rapids Trail in Whiteshell Provincial Park, I had the chance to capture some of the raw beauty that defines this incredible part of Manitoba. Nestled along the scenic Whiteshell River, this trail offers several stunning rapids that were perfect for some creative landscape photography.

Using my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV paired with the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens, I took advantage of the natural lighting and used an ND filter along with a CPL (circular polarizer) filter to slow the shutter speed and reduce glare. The result? A beautiful, silky smooth flow of the rapids — creating that soft milky texture that only a long exposure can deliver. 🌊

Each composition told a story — the movement of water, the texture of the rocks, and the surrounding greenery created a perfect natural canvas. I wanted these images to express not just what I saw, but what I felt in that moment — calm, awe, and connection to the wild around me.

This area is a dream for photographers and nature lovers alike, with multiple sets of rapids along the 2.8 km (one way) hike, all offering unique views and photographic opportunities. Whether you’re into outdoor photography, wildlife, or simply soaking in the serenity of nature — this place will speak to you.

I’m grateful to share a few of these images here — let me know what you think in the comments!
