Borrowed by #SaulBellow in his best novel Humboldt's Gift; then by #MartinAmis for his first collection of journalism.
Still working through this slim volume (5 stories and an essay). I have to say, Amis is hitting me as a LOT of style over I'm-not-sure-how-much substance thus far. I'll plough on. Also, FYI, the stories are not "about" nuclear war, but it's a deep, running theme.

And this gratuitous dig at #MartinAmis (and his dad) I can only attribute to a spiteful jealousy - all Martin's contemporaries, lagging behind bitterly, suffered from it - over that £½M advance. Martin spoke very generously about the turgidly unreadable Mother London while promoting London Fields.

I remember #MartinAmis reviewing the book Asimov is hawking here - his 221st, part two of whopping great autobiography - almost tearfully slogging through unremitting tedium. A terrible SF writer, only book I like is Asimov's Guide to Science.
