π Masked crimson tanager (Ramphocelus nigrogularis) β The masked crimson tanager is a striking bird found in humid forests from Costa Rica to western Ecuador. Males are a vibrant crimson red with a black mask covering their face and throat. Females are a similar, but less brightly coloured. They are typically found in the understory and middle levels of the forest, foraging for insects and fruits.
