The painting shows two jetties, each with a small lighthouse at its end, extending into a calm harbor from right to left, from the perspective of a person standing on the shore. A flag is flying at the end of the closer of the two jetties. Several boats are at sail. Most of the image is taken up by the water, which us rendered in soft pastel hues.
