I'm not sure how this book got on my wish list, but I'm glad it did. At first, it felt like it might be more like a "dime store novel"/thriller type thing you'd pick up at the airport. It was quick, at just under 10 hours and it's a good thing it was because I was listening to it on Spotify and only had a couple days to finish it before cancelling my free trial period. It reminded me of Becky Chambers' "The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet", great, deep characters, but not much going on. Except in this, there was definitely more actually going on and I loved the chances that were taken and how I was surprised by things that happened. Though it felt like "sci-fi lite" in the beginning, the author totally redeemed himself by the middle of the book. Also really glad this story wasn't 700 pages or the start of a 10 book series. It basically showed up, kicked ass and left.

"Lexicon" may qualify as dystopian, also as fantasy- sf, or action thriller.

The fictional #NationStates online web forum was a great place to debate, less heated since it's in an ever expanding fictional world. The game was created to promote:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennife...
" #JenniferGovernment is a 2003 dystopian novel by #MaxBarry, set in an alternate reality"
I am reminded of the novel #JenniferGovernment
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennife...
"A 2003 dystopian novel by #MaxBarry, set in an alternate reality where most nations in the Americas and Oceania are dominated by powerful corporations and corporate libertarianism coalitions and where gov" is limited.
