The history of airway management is wild!
Before VL, docs used wires through the neck or Trachlights to find the glottis by looking for a glow through the skin. These "blind faith" tools prove why video tech is a massive leap for safety. #MedHistory #FOAMed
From blind intubations to RSI
From jamming tubes down noses to 4K video, medicine has evolved. Modern meds like Sux and a "menu" of VL/DL tools make airway management safer and more humane. Don't take current tech for granted! #MedHistory #FOAMed #AirwayManagement

I first wrote this story about important people of color in @umich.edu #medhistory a few years ago. Now, for #BlackHistoryMonth, I expanded it, adding more on aspects of our history that deserve examination, as well as celebration.
Here it is:

Advertisement discussing "consumption, scrofula, hypochondria, insanity, gout, king's evil, and other and worse diseases"
An 1850s ad talked about scrofula and the king's evil as separate conditions. My understanding is that scrofula & the king's evil were the same thing (Tuberculous lymphadenitis).
Has anyone seen them being treated as distinct?
