Danger Danger - four the hard way
My favourite D2 album. Part #hairmetal and part #powerpop . It’s brilliant stuff; super smart but easily accessible.

Cinderella - Long Cold Winter
I very much dislike the terms #hairband and #hairmetal . By album number two here, Cinderella had genuinely got more “bluesy” (rock bands either got heavier or bluesier on their second records in the 80s).

Electric Boys - Funk-O-Metal Carpet Ride
Today’s #choressoundtrack is the, er, funky hard groove from Sweden. Underrated.
Leader Conny Bloom should be a rock god everywhere on this hear earth.
Why this isn’t this album on streaming?

Koritni - Game Of Fools
Today’s #gymsountrack is this stupidly fun group of songs from Australian lads who clearly grew up on that other Aussie band…
Perfect in the car on a sunny day with the windows down - kinda like Highway To Hell.

Harem Scarem - Chasing Euphoria
The newest effort from a hard rock band you should know more about.
If you love bands like Def Leppard or Extreme, and you haven’t heard HS, do your ears a favour and check them out!

Harem Scarem - Thirteen
- United
- Change The World
Today is a triple shot!
Three very solid albums from the band. All very melodic, and besides the mis-step into bro-country, all worthy of a home in the melodic rock fan’s collection!

Harem Scarem - Hope
To me, it’s the forgotten HS album…probably a reason for that.
Listen to guitarist Pete Lesperance’s solo album “Down In It” instead. It’s much better (it can be found under the band name Fair Ground on Spotify, etc).

Harem Scarem - Human Nature
It’s a very poppy release. There are some great songs on here, especially after the disappointing last release.
Also in photo, the rare melodicrock.com acoustic EP that came out around the same time.

Harem Scarem - Overload
It’s fine.
The track “Afterglow “ is great.
Not a big fan of some of the production.
But again, it’s fine.

Harem Scarem - Higher
My second favourite HS album. The band is firing on all cylinders here. #melodicrock of the highest degree.

Harem Scarem - Weight of the World
Released under the Rubber moniker at home in Canada, this is where the band gets back on track imo. Some great pop-hard rock tracks on here (ex. “Killing Me” “You Ruined everything”).
A fun album…

Harem Scarem / Rubber - s/t & Ultra Feel
Still released as Harem Scarem in Japan, the band goes #powerpop & gets screwed by Warner Canada in the process (despite solid radio and video play for “Sunshine“).
Rubber - 4/5
Ultra Feel 3/5
IMO…

Harem Scarem - Big Bang Theory
In hindsight, a clue to where the band was going stylistically over the next few albums. Powerpop done by gentlemen who once hairsprayed their hair, but were now listening to the music of the time (circa ‘98).

Harem Scarem - Believe (aka Karma Cleansing)
At the time was seen as a return to the sound of the first two albums. More poppy than Voice Of Reason, but stood out like a sore thumb in the mid 90s.
Strangely not on Spotify or the likes…

Harem Scarem - Voice Of Reason
What Def Leppard’s Slang should have been - darker and moodier, but still rooted in melodies.
* I added ‘Mood Swings’ in the picture to continue chronically, but I already used it earlier this year.

Harem Scarem - Harem Scarem
Top 10 band for me. I understand that many will say this is the band’s best album, but this is not one of my favourites. I do like it, but I much prefer the direction the band goes after this.

Treat - Ghost Of Graceland
One of those #iykyk bands. Classy melodic hard rock release that would be great in a 6-pack cd changer alongside the Black Swan debut and Harem Scarem’s output from the past twenty years.

Badlands - Voodoo Highway
Although I like debut, I love this follow up! A bluesy swagger than can’t be authenticated, it just has to be - which this is!
BTW, even a non drummer like me knows that Jeff Martin’s drumming is amazing on this!

@fmofficial.com - No Electricity Required
Remember the unplugged craze of the 90s? This is how you do it correctly. The medleys are just ridiculous fun…
…and can we please get a Steve Overland and Danny Bowes duet please?!

Angel - On Earth As It Is in Heaven
My favourite Angel album, produced by Eddie Kramer. Greatest logo ever in rock? Arguably. Most versatile at least…

Gun - Taking On The World
Bar one song, this is a perfect rock n’roll album. Equal parts Def Leppard and Inxs, the world should have got #Scotland ‘s finest from day one.

Enuff Z’Nuff - Greatest Hits
#hardrock meets #powerpop. Some of the greatest song written over the past 37 years can be found in their catalog.
…and check out my buddy @popfuss.bsky.social ‘s interview with singer Donnie Vie!

Eclipse - Megalomanium II
One of the best newer hard rock bands playing to the heavier end of the #AOR spectrum.
For fans of Pretty Maids and H.E.A.T.

Alfonzetti - Ready
Apple Music says this “alternative”. In 2000, this was the alternative to “alternative”. It’s rootsy melodic rock that’s awesome.
…and it’s today’s gym soundtrack.

Ten - Far Beyond The World
In 2001, while living in the #uk, this was one of my albums. “Scarlet And The Grey” deserves to be heard by more ears who appreciate smart melodic rock.
