This was a first: a Bald Eagle! I heard it in the woods behind the house but couldn’t see it. I know they hang out at a nearby lake but I’ve never had one close to home. The crows were raising hell about it! #birds #MerlinSoundID

This morning’s chorus. The Tanager and the Vireo should be migrating south soon, but the rest of these are year-round residents.

I went and picked blueberries this morning at 8 AM and it was actually pleasant outside, not too hot with a breeze. There was so much birdsong in the field that I had to check Merlin.
Two rare birds for my area: Orchard Oriole and Eastern Meadowlark!

When I woke up this morning, an owl was hooting so loudly that I could hear it from inside the house. Went out and got Merlin to confirm. Even though it was too dark to see anything, it was cool to hear one so close by.

A Baltimore Oriole! Just passing through and headed north. I’ve seen them in my bird bath a couple of times, a gorgeous bird. The warbler is a new arrival, and the white- throated sparrow will be leaving soon. #MerlinSoundID #birds #SpringMigration
