Reflections on Father’s Day: The Power of Co-Parenting Post-Father’s Day reflections from someone who now fully understands the phrase “I can’t do this alone.” Father’s Day was last Sunday. Today is Friday. And I’m just now climbing out of the parenting crater left behind after my husband was gone for a week and a half. Not one trip. Two. Back to back. Eleven days of solo parenting. Eleven days of me, alone, with two kids who seem to double in volume and snack demands when Dad’s away. When he first told me about the travel, I nodded. I said, “Yeah, that’s fine.

He came back the night before Father’s Day. After 11 days solo, I was wrecked. Our daughter clung to him like a baby sloth. Our son squealed like he’d seen a celebrity.

No brunch. Just blocks, laughs, and a deep breath I didn’t know I was holding.

The Realities of Working from Home with Kids I keep my laptop on my kitchen counter - plugged in, perpetually sticky with fingerprints and cracker crumbs. It’s surrounded by toys that have been confiscated, half-sipped sippy cups, and a rotating collection of distractions meant to buy me three more minutes of quiet. I work from home. But I am never, ever alone. This is the promise and the punishment of modern motherhood - the so-called "flexibility" of working remotely with a small child underfoot. It's a privilege, I know. I'm grateful, truly. But it's also relentless, claustrophobic, and, sometimes, wildly beautiful.

New on the blog: I work from home, but I’m never alone.
It’s chaotic, beautiful, exhausting- and real. For anyone juggling deadlines and diapers, meetings and messes. Read it, share it, and tell me—what’s grounding you right now?

Mother’s Day Was Never Meant to Be a Brunch Let’s be honest. Most of us think of Mother’s Day and picture flowers ordered last-minute, a brunch reservation we didn’t really ask for, and tiny hands shoving sticky construction-paper hearts into our laps before we’ve had coffee. And sure, that’s sweet. But it’s also… not the whole story. Because the original Mother’s Day? It wasn’t created so we could get a mimosa and a 30-minute nap while everyone else destroys the kitchen “making breakfast.” It was created to fight for community health, to protest war, and to recognize the strength and sacrifice of women holding everything together.

Mother’s Day started as a call to action, not a call for brunch. From public health and peace protests to sticky-fingered toddlers and invisible labor, motherhood has always been radical. This year, let’s honor it for what it really is: messy, powerful, and ever-evolving.

2025: The Year of Me The Start of Something New Let’s take a step back… nearly 10 years ago. I left the military. I left the best shape of my life. I lost myself and who I thought I was. I found depression and sp…

I’m down -3.6 lbs total, with -1.1 lbs lost this week on the Hers GLP-1. But the bigger win? I didn’t spiral after last week’s gain.

Instead of starting over (again), I just…kept going. 🧵

Mastering Parenting: The 9-Minute Theory for Busy Moms Look, I adore my kids. They are my world, my joy, and the reason my coffee consumption has reached Olympic levels. But let’s be honest: parenting is a full-contact sport, and sometimes I just need a damn minute. My husband and I have developed a system for survival (because, yes, that’s what this is). We call it the "Energy Check-In." It’s not an official meeting or anything fancy—just a quick gut check to see who’s running on fumes and who has at least a flicker of energy left. For example, if he’s at 25% and I’m at 50%, I take the lead on dinner, toddler wrangling, and making sure the baby doesn’t find new and creative ways to injure himself.
