How Microforests Are Helping Improve Biodiversity A microforest is a tiny forest planted with the goal of improving biodiversity and fighting climate change, especially amid expanding urban areas and industrial hubs. Reporting for TODAY, NBC’s Emilie...

Our work with Groundwork Elizabeth was featured on the Today Show! To reintroduce nature to their community, Elizabeth planted a series of “microforests,” dense plots high in biodiversity which develop the characteristics of mature forests up to 5 times faster than other urban forests. #microforests

‘Microforest’ takes root amid city streets of Providence, reflecting worldwide trend - The Boston Globe “They are popping up all over the world,” Alexandra Ionescu said. “A lot of people right now are feeling the effects of climate change and they want to take meaningful action.”

"The pocket forests adhere to the “Miyawaki method” named after a Japanese botanist, to plant a wide variety of local trees in large numbers and in very tight quarters, mimicking the biodiversity and competition of the natural growth...in the wild.” #MicroForests

Should every European capital have an urban 'pocket forest'? Our cities are polluted and overcrowded - but planting trees in urban spaces create future wildlife habitats.

🇯🇵: #MicroForests are reshaping #urban landscapes, offering biodiversity, pollution reduction, and community well-being. Using the Miyawaki method, these dense green spaces grow rapidly, providing vital wildlife habitats and cooling cities. #CriticalZone

#Microforests are popping up as people are looking for ways to fight climate change. Microforest will not replace millions of hectares of native forests being lost every day that need to be protected, but it does encourage biodiversity in unlikely places.
