The telescope is now used for tours, climatological research, moon bouncing, and contact with satellites. In 2013, it helped re-establish contact with a nanosatellite, Triton-1. In 2024, the telescope picked up signals from Voyager 1, which is remarkable for a telescope with a diameter of 'only' 25 meters. In 2025, the DRT performed a Venus bounce.

What a difference 20 minutes makes! Tonight's #MightyKBC broadcast was gangbusters for a while. Right after the @radioactiveal.bsky.social birthday image of Joni Mitchell, the signal took a sharp nosedive and never recovered.

Frankly, the fact I got two SSTV triggers anyway was pretty wild.

A difficult #MightyKBC this week due to interference from an adjacent signal on the dial. The @radioactiveal.bsky.social birthday image of Roger Waters from Pink Floyd made it through but it's pretty ratty. If there was a DX segment, I didn't hear enough of it to attempt decoding.

This was a difficult one to decode as the preamble was mostly gibberish and had to be played back numerous times until I found a sideband that worked.

This week's #MightyKBC was a bit too noisy to enjoy the music, but the @radioactiveal.bsky.social birthday image of the week and the Peter Johns DX SSTV still managed to decode. I can't quite make out the text on that transmitter room picture, but it looks cool, whatever it is.

It's been a minute, but this week I was able to decode the @radioactiveal.bsky.social image from the #MightyKBC on WRMI 5950 during the 2200 UTC broadcast. It was difficult to get the trigger due to local RF noise, but eventually it worked.
