Vibrant pink blooms with needle-like petals tipped in white create a cake pop looking bloom. These are the flowers of the powderpuff mimosa plant. They grow from a ground cover of soft, small, fern-like green leaves, which close when you step on them or touch them. This is why they call powderpuff mimosa the sensitive plant. At the top of the photo, one of the powderpuff blooms is just opening from a pinecone shaped bud.
