The problem is that there’s SO MUCH sugar in them! Each Tbsp of the mincemeat has about 19g of carbs, 13 of which are sugar - and there’s at LEAST 2 Tbsp in each tart (maybe more.) 😩

Homemade mincemeat with dried fruit, soft brown sugar, vegetable suet, cooking appples, almonds, cinnamon, mixed spice, nutmeg, lemons, mixed peel, oranges and brandy. This makes about 6lb mincemeat. I make loads of mince pies around Christmas - I freeze some, give some away and eat plenty! In years gone by if anyone popped round they would get a warm mince pie and a sherry!
