Again, not quite the kind of thing I'd want to write myself, but definitely something that will keep me reading!
I'll be coming back to this series. Both Ilona Andrews and Matt make me want to come back and finish the whole series. But there are so many books ....

For one thing, you know what will happen ultimately based on the premise - you know that Carl will make it to the end of the dungeon ๐
But the plot twists as he progressed were entertaining and creative. So I kept reading, and reading, and reading.

Then I read "Dungeon Crawler Carl".
I knew Matt Dinniman a long time ago (before DCC) and he's a great guy. The book was interesting.
What interests me mostly about a book is the plot. Figuring out what will happen before it happens.
Couldn't do that much here ๐

The story was engaging, and the writing was clean. It wasn't the kind of writing that made me want to write like that, but the story was good. And I finished the book in 4 days, which is a record for me ... Or I wasn't busy ๐
I'll be returning to this series!

A screenshot from a reading app showing the book reading progress for the month of November. Its shows "Best reading streak 112 days" at the bottom and has the covers for multiple books in the calendar for November. The books in the calendar are - "Long Past Dues" by James J. Butcher, "The Fifth Golden Age of Science Fiction Megapack", "Rivers of London" by Ben Aaronovitch, "A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking" by T. Kingfisher, "Just One Damned Thing After Another" by Jodi Taylor, "Clean Sweep" by Ilona Andrews, and "Dungeon Crawler Carl" by Matt Dinniman
What with the storm and flooding in Sri Lanka and other stuff going on, I haven't had time to do a reading update. But maybe time to do one now to close out November?
After DNFing "Just One Damned Thing After Another", I started on "Clean Sweep". This one I liked ๐

I love horror so much... but I've now read so many in a row that I need a detox until next year. That does mean that the second part of my "best books of last year" project is finally up!

Going to post some TTRPG #minireviews for the games I've looked at so far this year
Pink in 2 different shades- blush and brighter pink in stripes. Box with "March Mini Book Reviews" in the middle.
Pink in 2 different shades- blush and brighter pink in stripes. Book Cover Ablaze- A.H. Cunningham to the left of middle #1 above it and to the right a box with "This book is SOOOO hot but there is SO much heart and communication. A.H. Cunningham really brought it all in this one. I loved the navigation of their relationship, sexuality and the ways they supported each other was just everything.I also loved that the FMC makes costumes for Carnival. She is also a fat FMC and confident in her body. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this book and the audio is FIRE! "
Pink in 2 different shades- blush and brighter pink in stripes. Left a box with " This is a coming of age YA story with a plus size Black FMC who is navigating friendships, family and a new relationship. Her desire to have this relationship did make her engage with lying and doing things that were not her but there was some beauty in her learning to be herself and let people see her shine on her own. " and next to it is the book cover for Love is a Revolution- Renee Watson
Pink in 2 different shades- blush and brighter pink in stripes. Book Cover- The Next Best Fling- Gabriella Gamez. Box with the following written next to it: The plot of this one was so good. Her best guy friend is getting engaged and married and she ends up in a fake dating situation with his brother. I loved the way in which the MMC was open and communicated his mess ups and the ways he changed. The FMC kept part of herself still hidden and lied. I struggled with being in her headspace when it came to the insecurities with her body and being โworthyโ of the hot guy who wanted her but I know that is something so many of us plus sized people go through.
March was a rough month for me and I hit a reading slump hard core but I did somehow manage to read 5 books this month.
All had plus size/Fat MCs and all were by non-yt authors!
