@iainlee.com It's only taken me 30 years to get my copy! Near mint and only a fiver. Vinyl would have been over £60, so balls to that.

At the end of part one, it was announced that part two (about the rules) had been postponed due to "scheduling difficulties".

Thus, we are forever stuck in Nidd., even with Thornton’s controversial 3rd amendment in play. #Rules #MorningtonCrescent

I just played a game of #MorningtonCrescent with Claude. It was very in-keeping with the spirit of the game, including when I said the McCollum rules were in effect. The only problem was it ended the game after like 3 turns, and implied that Mornington Crescent was a loss […]

George smirkey short story

SMIRKEY'S GAME
By John le Cabbé
The house was set well back from the corner of Headstone Lane. A thin sleety rain drifted through the bitter night air, and the crumbling once-grand
façade glistened in the jaundiced glow of a street-lamp. George Smirkey
crunched his way up the short
driveway
then,
throwing aside the empty crisp packet, he mounted the three worn stone steps
and rapped on the doorbell. The door was cautiously opened almost at once by a man of middle age with receding grey hair, a nervous moustache, and a world-weary pair of spectacles on his face.
'Is this the "Safe" house?' asked Smirkey.
'It is,' replied Mr Safe. 'What can I do for you?'
'I am a Jehovah's Witness,' responded Smirkey, dutifully giving the password the 'Circus Operators' had provided him with before he set out from MI7 (SIC/WD40) HQ at Finchley Central.
'Then you'd better come in from the cold,' said Safe, sighing as he stepped back to allow his visitor to enter.
Smirkey slipped past his host into the hallway. Struggling to his feet, he noticed the two men in dark suits and heavily framed spectacles who were sitting on the bench by the phone. One of them opened his briefcase smartly

@iainlee.com Looking for a vinyl copy of #MorningtonCrescent by #MyLifeStory on #Discogs, and £60 seems to be the starting price. Arg. Also, the keyboard player is called Helen Caddick! Hope she doesn’t have a Birmingham accent! 😉

Well there goes the end of an era. I've been playing #MorningtonCrescent and other games from #ISIHAC online since about 1998 with a fabulous bunch of people - I met lots of them in person, and over the years we've lost some of them too - but it's all ended today because 'laws'. Bit bereft TBH.

Rightly so. It's only playable when Trevithick's Gambit is invoked.
