#MountMonadnock at sunset August, 8 2011 --7:20pm
One of the most climbed mountains in the world. It's 3,165 ft and the highest #mountain in southern #NewHampshire.
The top is defoliated because of fires set by early settlers.

I missed this #sunset by less than a minute, probably less actually.
There's a point where you have about 15 to 30 seconds (or that's what it feels like anyway) when the light changes - just before the sun entirely sets behind #MountMonadnock.

Mount Monadnock 12/13/24 - another brutally cold day meant I saw almost no other people all day. This was my 13th time hiking Monadnock and I did it on Friday the 13th. #NewHampshire #hikertrash #mountmonadnock #summit #hikers #newengland #fridaythe13th #windy #travel
A view from Granite ledge, gazing out into the distance. In the foreground, two hiking poles and the legs of the photographer protrude into the frame. Snow covered ledge with a few scattered pine trees gives way to blue skies and distant views.
A close-up from the same seated position as the previous photograph. A mountain cairn is in the foreground of the ledge, and in the far distance Wachusett mountain can be seen.
A selfie of the author with the eastern Ridge that leads up to the summit of Mount Monadnock via the Pumpelly trail in the background.
Perfect weather and 360° views prevailed on #MountMonadnock today. Good to stretch the legs.
