Today’s view of #mountshasta from the Pilot truckstop in Weed, CA. The air is super clear today and I was in the right place at the right time to clearly see Shasta from I-5 just north of Orland, CA, roughly 120 miles south of here. Shasta is huge…

I keep coming back to this view of Mount Shasta. There’s something about seeing it stripped down to black and white that feels more like a conversation than just a landscape. No color, no distractions—just the lines of the mountain, the weight of the sky, and that dark band of trees holding the foreground together.

I called this piece “The Listening Mountain” because it feels like the kind of place where you don’t speak first. You just stand there, breathe, and let the stillness meet you halfway.
