No visit to #Zennor would be complete without a meal at Moyra’s ancestors’ local pub - the #TinnersArms, which was built in 1271! We had the Cornish homity pie, made with cheese, onion & leeks, & local Moomaid ice cream for dessert #MoyrasTrip

This afternoon we visited (by prior arrangement) a farmhouse where Moyra’s ancestors lived from 1770-1850. The wonderful ceiling-height granite range & bread oven are still there & we saw the original cobbles of the kitchen floor. The current owner has extensively researched its history #MoyrasTrip

Today we visited #Penponds, where Moyra’s Ivey ancestors lived. It’s difficult to pinpoint the exact cottage where her g-grandmother Lavinia lived - it was either nextdoor or nextdoor-but-one to the Bible Christian Chapel. Lavinia’s husband disappeared on a ship & was never seen again #MoyrasTrip

Yesterday we met up with Moyra’s cousin twice removed. He’s local, & kindly took us on a tour of their local ancestral locations. Their 2x great grandfather lived in this cottage #MoyrasTrip

We’re staying in a converted barn in #Trewey, #Zennor. Originally there were 4 farms next to each other on this land, one of them being Moyra’s direct ancestor Thomas Osborn. Not sure that this was his barn, but he certainly occupied the surrounding barns if not this one #MoyrasTrip

The smuggling museum in the Jamaica Inn is well worth a visit. Lots of Daphne du Maurier ephemera too.

My cousin Moyra & I arrived in Cornwall on Sunday; we’re here to walk in the footsteps of her Osborn & Ivey ancestors, who hail from Penponds & Zennor. On the way we listened to a playlist of Cornish music & folklore. Had lunch at the #JamaicaInn, we’d watched the film a few days before #MoyrasTrip
