One of the first times I painted the progression of the sunset was on a crowded day at #MtTaborPark in #Portland, Oregon last fall.
I climbed up the side of the mountain and picked a great spot midway up the hill, facing west and away from the crowds

A late afternoon view of people on a grassy slope leading down to the water’s edge of a reservoir. People sit in small groups or read alone on the setting-sun-tinged grass, among the long sunset-cast shadows, and trees - some of whose leaves have already begun their seasonal transition to fiery oranges and burnished copper. They provide a colorful contrast to the wall of evergreens in the background.

For those of us in the northern hemisphere, the lowering temperatures of the end of #Summer now chase the shortening days.
