De huismuis (Mus musculus) is een knaagdier uit de familie Muridae. De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort werd in 1758 gepubliceerd door Carl Linnaeus.[2] De huismuis is, net als de stadsduif en de zwarte en bruine rat, een cultuurvolger met een kosmopolitische verspreiding.
