And since we’re chatting MBL, #MyMBLMoment was getting to see a hair cell dance thanks to Dr. Jonathan Ashmore at the Biology of the Inner Course… also fitting for #MicroscopyMonday

So grateful to have been part of Physiology class of 2025!
#MyMBLMoment - collaboration & teaching! I took Physiology in 1996; my lab partner & I wanted to do an experiment; the section leaders suggested we go talk to famous MBL summer researcher-Clay Armstrong; we thought "why would he take the time to talk to us?"; but he showed the squid giant axon prep!

Open shell of a Mytilus edulus mussel displaying its deliciousness
The day we dissected live invertebrates from a trawl in Vineyard Sound when, looking through the scope at Mytilus edulus and thinking "damn, that looks tasty!", went out to Captain Kidds after and enjoyed my first pot of steamed mussels.

My favorite moment(s) (how can I only pick one??) were: (1) studying how branching maintains the nuclear to cytoplasmic ratio in ashbya with the amazing @gladfelterlab.bsky.social during this summer’s Physiology course and (2) catching a crab with @rnadavid.bsky.social 😂 (we let it go!) #MyMBLMoment
