I've watched this episode 4 times since Sunday #myromanempire

King Rauru, an anthropomorphic dragon with grey-green skin and a goat-like face, is in the Imprisoning chamber in the Depths. With him is Queen Sonia, a more typically human-looking woman with deeply tan skin and sharp pointed ears. Several eras have passed since the Imprisoning War, and Rauru’s petrified body has begun to disintegrate as his seal on the Demon King weakens. Most of his upper body is still there, ending just below the loose purple-black mantle with its pattern of small gold triangles, and the owl-face armor plate on his chest. His right arm still extends forward to hold the petrified Demon King, not shown here, in place. Wide, twisting rings of neon green light still spiral above Rauru’s head. His cascading white hair, still frozen in sharp windblown waves that stretch far back from his head, has become a dark grey, and has also grown shorter. He still boasts the gold accents that tip those sharp waves of hair, albeit a darker gold now. The king’s eyes are lightless but his teeth are still bared in a fierce growl. Queen Sonia appears in the foreground, her face and long, cascading waves of pale gold hair glowing vividly. The bottom-hugging folds of her white tunic, and the hem of the dark red dress that falls further down her calves toward her heels, appear more translucent. She’s in spirit form, having died just before the Imprisoning war. The barest hint of deep purple, a memory of Rauru’s skirt, is visible through the dark red folds of the dress. Sonia embraces her husband, facing forward along with him, and placing her left hand on his right shoulder. A spark of light gleams from her hand as she adds some of her time-extending power to his seal, knowing how long it still needs to last. Her eyes are closed in melancholy peace. She knows many eras will pass before her husband can join her in the afterlife.

The same scene, but Rauru’s entire body is intact. His hair is still a shadowed grey, but the gold accents glow more brightly, from the back of his head all the way to the flame-like tips just past his extended back foot. He wears a long skirt of royal purple, with a shorter bronze sarong on top and a vertical strip of bright red fabric in front. Sonia’s pose is so in sync with Rauru’s that it looks as if she shares his left arm and leg, extended backward as he lunges forward with his right. Her right arm is hidden as it wraps around Rauru’s shoulders, and her legs don’t appear at all, as her spirit form fades below the waist, becoming translucent.

Slightly modified my most recent Soniauru piece. Shifted Sonia’s gaze forward to match Rauru’s, like they’re performing a sync strike.

Rauru’s right arm, almost fully hidden by Sonia’s hair, wraps tightly around her upper back just under her shoulders. They smile gently into each other’s faces, eyes closed in perfect harmony.
