It's time to sweep winter's debris from our streets and welcome spring. For #MysteryMonday from #HfxArchives, can you guess what year the first motorized street sweepers were introduced in Halifax?

A black and white photo shows a 1960s double deck bus in a bus lay by, next to a bus shelter. On the right, the driver is standing next to the bus and looking at it. On the opposite side of the road on the left, there's a very smart Jaguar saloon parked by the kerb, and a few yards along there seems to be a church gate.

It's December 1963. The bus is new; the Jaguar is smart; the driver is wearing his peaked cap. But where is it? We know, but we're not saying! Tell us if you think you know, and we'll confirm the answer later. #MysteryMonday

Every story begins with a question.
Mine happens to involve a train🚆, a Van Gogh🌻, some secrets, and a killer. Many of my questions are inspired by other artists, and coffee☕
Do you remember what question you hoped to answer when you started your story?

A colour photo, taken in the late nineteen sixties, shows a green double deck bus heading away from the camera. There are vintage cars ahead of it and behind it, and on the other side of the road we can glimpse a couple of red buses travelling in the opposite direction. Behind that we can just see what seems to be a modern shopping centre, and further down the road in the distance we see older small shops.

We certainly recognise the bus on today's #MysteryMonday pic - it's our own SHMD 70, the unique double deck Atkinson bus that's now in our museum. But do you know where the photo was taken? It's over to you to say, and we'll confirm the answer later.

Can you guess what's peeking out of the top of this photograph?

In an effort to make #ACEO more consistently, I've come up with six themes that I'll be posting here Monday to Saturday, then I'll put those cards up on #ebay every Sunday 😊
The first theme is #MysteryMonday - I can draw anything on this day and though a lil mushroom dude was perfect!

Kiki here. Hi, Chris! Good morning to you, kitty! Yep, it’s quite a conundrum! The prospect of meeting my fans in person sends thrills down my fur…and at the same time makes me wanna hide under the bed! But I love them all the same…just from a safe distance! Happy #MysteryMonday!

A brown, orange and white Greater Manchester Transport bus heads towards the camera on a sunny day in the nineteen eighties. We see older houses on the right, elevated from the road, and one of them has a for sale sign outside.

#MysteryMonday means we show you a pic from our huge photo archive - but we don't tell you where it was taken. And we've made it harder by rubbing out the destination display... But do you know where it is? Reply if you think you know, and we'll confirm the answer later.

A rather dirty red and grey Lancashire United bus is heading away from the camera. In the corner of the photo the date is imprinted. It says the fourteenth and May, nineteen eighty-one. A blue Vauxhall Victor car is coming the other way, and at the extreme left a yellow Ford Cortina is waiting in a side road for the bus to pass.

Just missed it!

Kiki here. Hi, Sabrina and Wyatt! You seem to be having a classic staring face-off! You’re both brave to do that, but I’m sure it’s all done in the spirit of camaraderie! Lots of room to chase each other—but who’s taking the picture? Tex B? Mr Maersk? Sky? Jackie O? Who knows? Happy #MysteryMonday!

For this #MysteryMonday with #HfxArchives, do you know what Dartmouth road is shown in this Benjamin Studios photo? We estimate it was taken sometime during the 1950s.

On which lost navigation would you have encountered ‘Hufflers’? Specialist workers who used a 15-foot pole with a padded cup to push 80-ton boats three miles against the tide.

A black and white photo shows a street scene, perhaps in the late nineteen sixties. In the foreground there's a traffic island that is dug up and having work done, and in the background there's a row of small shops. The scene is completed by some classic 1960s cars and vans, from an Austin on the left to a Hillman Imp in the centre and a Mini on the right.

It's an unusual #MysteryMonday photo this week - we too don't know the location! This photo came to us as part of a large and very valuable bequest, with no notes to say when or where it was taken. If you think you know, please reply below.
