Lii could shrug off cuts like that; if someone had to get hurt, it should have been her. Instead, her cowardice had forced her new friend to suffer that pain. Raffica was a good person. She was so kind and outgoing, like a bright star masquerading as a girl. Even knowing what Lii was, she’d reached out and eagerly accepted her as a friend. Knowing she’d hurt such a wonderful, perfect person through her inaction, it made her want to smash her head against the wall. Why? Why hadn’t she acted? Why hadn’t she done more? Why did she keep letting her friends get hurt? Because she was still terrified of herself.
