NARST is excited to invite you to the 2026 NARST Early Career Institute (NARST- ECI), held from April to August 2026. 

The goals of the NARST-ECI are 
(1) increasing the network of a diverse cohort of scholars, 
(2) aide scholars in developing their research agenda, and 
(3) providing opportunities for mentors to learn from the scholars. 

What can you expect from participating in the NARST-ECI?  
• Increase your professional network  
• Support in developing and/or strengthening of your research agenda through capacity building learning events 
• Small group mentoring sessions 
• $500 travel support 
• Contribute to the evaluation of the NARST-ECI 

Who is eligible to participate in NARST-ECI?  • Early-career NARST members who are pre-tenured or are in their first five years of academic work beyond their doctoral work 
• Plan to attend the 2026 NARST Conference in Seatle, Washington 
• Can commit to the NARST-ECI schedule

Mentors will play a key role in helping scholars reach their goals.  

What are the responsibilities of NARST-ECI mentors?  
• Support a small group of mentors in achieving the goals of the institute 
• Co-develop and facilitate capacity building learning events (e.g., academic writing for publication and CV building) 
• Assist scholars with expanding their professional networks 
• Offer office hours to support scholars throughout the institute 
• $500 stipend
• Contribute to the evaluation of the NARST-ECI 

Who is eligible to serve as a NARST-ECI Mentor?  
• NARST Members who are tenured faculty or at least 10 years beyond their doctoral work  
• Has experience mentoring early-career scholars 
• Plan to attend the 2026 NARST Conference in Seatle, Washington 
• Can commit to the NARST-ECI schedule
