Page 1 of NATG Day 12 comic. Guiding Light, a well-dressed unicorn, is purchasing a single mango with twelve bits. The grocery clerk, an earth pony stallion, looks down, regarding the situation as unusual.

Part 2. Guiding Light takes the mango with her unicorn magic. The clerk, has shoved aside ten of the bits, keeping two. He tells Guiding Light "Madam, it's only two bits."

Part 3. Guiding Light restores the pile of twelve bits from earlier, with two being lifted to the top. She tells the clerk "Keep the change. Two bits is a price I cannot pay." The clerk looks at the pile bewildered, saying "I don't understand. It's a competitive market price."

Part 4: Guiding Light explains to the clerk "The one paying the most here is not party to this transaction. Or your supplier's. That should tell you what to do with the extra ten." The clerk still does not appear to completely understand.

"I know it's my own fault...I yelled at Mom and Dad when they wouldn't lay off...I told them I didn't want to be part of a family that wouldn't let me be who I was meant to be...I got you in trouble, too, when you stood up for me...I don't know how you put up with it, and I don't know what I'd do if they turned cold on Pastel...She doesn't deserve to be caught up in my own problems...

Biscotti puts a hoof to Cookie's shoulder, drawing her eyes back on him. "In your case, Cookie, I've never regretted for an instant standing by your side, even against Mom and Dad. Sure, things got tense for a time, but I'd already made up my mind. If my sister's not good enough to be treated like family, then I'm not good enough, either. I don't know how many times I've had to tell them that, but somehow, it still hasn't sunk in what they're missing out on without you. And as for Pastel..."

Biscotti becomes deadly serious, surprising Cookie. "...I've made it clear to Mom and Dad, and Marzipan agrees with me, that whatever Pastel's future talent is, whatever she's good at, even if it has nothing to do with cooking, I'll stand by her and support her no matter what, because that's what a true parent does for their child. If they mistreat her over it, then everything, everything is over between them and me. They might not think I'm being serious, but I've never been more serious in my life..."

Cookie smiles gratefully and put her hoof on her bother's, as he smiles in return. "Pastel's lucky to have a dad like you, Bisc, and I'm lucky to have you as a brother..." "That's what I'm here for, sis."

"So, how did Pastel behave, Cookie?" "Oh, as good as gold, like always. She showed me some of the drawings she's made." "Oh, really? I wondered what you might think of the one she made of you."

Cookie grins in amusement as she replies, joking about her own appearance and how Pastel represented her in her drawing, making Biscotti laugh. "Well, honestly, I think she did me too much justice. I know for a fact I'm not that skinny and good-looking." "Pffft! Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!"

Cookie adopts a warmer smile. "In all seriousness, she's getting really good with her drawings, and I told her as much. It made her really happy to hear that, and seeing her happy makes me happy..."

Cookie's smile fades and she looks away, putting a foreleg around her other leg, concerning Biscotti. "...That's why I'm worried, Bisc. What if she gets her cutie mark and Mom and Dad...don't approve? What if they treat her the way they treated me when I got mine? I never told Pastel the full details, but I couldn't stand the idea of her heart being broken like that..."
