New England's Power Grid: A 10-Year Outlook
The ISO New England has released its draft 2025 Regional System Plan (RSP25), a comprehensive report examining the region's power grid over the next decade, which provides a detailed assessment of projected electricity demand, transmission infrastructure, evolving energy resources, and the impact of public policies and economic factors. The plan, developed through an open process involving stakeholders, projects significant growth in electricity demand, driven by state-level initiatives to reduce carbon emissions, and anticipates changes in peak usage patterns, as well as the integration of new resources such as wind and battery storage, with a focus on maintaining reliability and adapting to evolving market conditions.
