A small dim galaxy against a starfield
NGC 2366 is a Magellanic barred irregular dwarf galaxy about 10 million light years away. The separate lump low on its right side is another dwarf galaxy, NGC 2363, that is interacting with 2366.

The younger cluster (2 million years old) is embedded in gas and dust, while the older cluster (4-5 million years old) shows its central area cleared by stellar winds, forming a hook-like shape. The brightest star, a Luminous Blue Variable, is 30-60 times the mass of our sun and has brightened significantly in recent years. The image reveals the dynamic processes of star formation and evolution in a distant galaxy.
