February 2026, Orion Nebula.

February was hit and miss. I didn’t get sufficient timing on the few clear nights so there’s exposure banding that came out uneven.

Telescope: #Seestar S50. Stacked in Seestar. 03:56:50 Exposure.

Really, @joescott.bsky.social was enough to get me on #Nebula and keep me there. There’s plenty of other great stuff to watch there too. But now @robwords.bsky.social is there as well? Really, you shouldn’t have, that’s just… What’s that? @tomscott.com is there now too? Say… are you and Joe…?

SH2-224 - AstroBin An image on AstroBin.

🔭 SH2-224, a supernova remnant in Auriga, ~14,700 light-years away. The ghostly shell of a dead star, shaped like a conical rice hat. Extremely faint, rarely imaged — one of the sky's quiet treasures.

IC417 the Spider nebula, captured with a mono camera (ASI183MM Pro) and SHO filters plus luminance, for a total of about 6.5hr of exposure time. Dark red filaments of gas fill the frame that's dotted with thousands of stars, with a few stars appearing much larger and brighter than the rest closer to the middle of the frame. The center of the nebula is glowing faintly blue as well

Just got the mono version of my astro camera and SHO filters, so I decided to do a test - get the same amount of time with both cameras on the Spider Nebula IC417 to compare. I think the results speak for themselves.

There are three nebulae here: the red emission nebula, the blue reflection nebula and the dark nebula which gives the nebula its distinctive 3-lobed look. The nebula is set against a black sky peppered with stars.

Lower’s Nebula is named after Harold and Charles Lower who discovered this nebula in 1939. In the constellation Orion, it’s about 3K light years away. Some even call it the “Eye of Ra” because of its similarity to an Egyptian hieroglyph.

This is one of the earliest images taken on the Seestar scope. Not a huge amount of data images though I hope to add to them over time which will Improve the level of detail. This is C 49 the Rosette Nebula, it is beautiful isn't it 😍?

I love #sponsorblock, it's awesome! One thing that I wish I could do is disable it for certain "sponsors". Specifically I don't want to skip #nebula ads, because I want to know if something is also on nebula and I do generally prefer watching things there than on #youtube, but obviously […]

The Cederblad 51 nebula in the constellation Orion. (Image credit: Emil Andronic)

Astrophotographer Emil Andronic spent nearly 70 hours capturing a delicate blue nebula in Orion.

The nebula glows as it scatters the light from nearby stars. The reflection nebula revealed the interstellar cloud as it glowed over the UK in late 2025.
Nice job Emil!
