Shape: It has a circular, floral shape with a hollowed-out center, which is why it is commonly called the "Rosette". Some observers also refer to it as the Skull Nebula due to how the gas is carved.
Colors: The glowing orange and red areas are primarily made of hydrogen gas. The blue and white sections in the center represent other gases, like oxygen, being pushed away by young stars.
The Center: At the very heart of the nebula is a cluster of bright, young stars

The Jellyfish Nebula!

Formed 30,000 years ago when a massive star exploded as a supernova, the material that the star was made from โ€” plus new elements forged in the extreme temperatures of the explosion โ€” blasted outwards!

It took 5000 years for this light to hit my back yard in Victoria, BC :)

See those 4 tiny stars right in the middle?

That's the 'Trapezium Cluster' at the heart of the Orion Nebula.

I used several short exposures (5-seconds) to preserve Orionโ€™s luminous core.

I thought it would be cool to capture a shot like this as a nice 'send off' to Orion for another year. ๐Ÿ‘‹

A group of several bright, hot, blue stars surrounded by a soft, ethereal blue glow - a reflection nebula, caused by interstellar dust reflecting the starlight. The main cluster is set against a rich, dark background speckled with countless other distant stars, showcasing the depth of the night sky.

Had another go at processing this. The Pleiades.

This picture shows a close-up of a Common Kingfisher. The bird has vibrant plumage, featuring brilliant blue on its back and head, and rich orange on its underside and chest. It has a long, sharp, dark bill with a reddish base to the lower mandible. A white patch is visible on its neck.
The kingfisher is sitting on a horizontal, moss-covered branch. The background is a soft blur of dark, vertical branches and muted natural colours

A tall bird, with long legs, a long neck, and a long, & bill. The plumage is primarily ashy-grey on the upper body, with greyish-white underparts and some black on the flanks. The bird is seen standing still in shallow water along a lake margin, patiently waiting for prey. Dying reedbeds form the backdrop

The galaxy has a bright, whitish core that fades into expansive, swirling spiral arms. These arms are predominantly a mix of blue and purple hues, indicative of star-forming regions and hot, young stars.
Details: Within the spiral arms, several brighter patches of light, which are nebulae (HII regions), are visible. The background is filled with countless individual stars, providing a sense of depth and scale to the cosmic scene.

The Orion Nebula M42 (centre right) and Running Man Nebula NGC 1977 (centre-left) against a backdrop of gas and dust. M42 is mostly magenta in the centre with swirling tendrils of blue framing it. NgC 1977 is mostly blue, reflection nebulosity with some magenta peeping through in its centre. Some bright blue-white stars dot the field with some fainter, yellow-orange stars also visible.

Captured with a Skywatcher Esprit 80 ED telescope and ZWO 2600mc camera.
