Astrophotograph of the Owl Cluster (NGC 457) showing two bright central stars and surrounding cluster members with subtle colour differences against a dark background.

Re-edit of my recent capture of NGC 457 (the Owl Cluster), an open cluster in Cassiopeia.
Captured with my Seestar. Reduced background stars to emphasise structure, with enhanced stellar colours showing temperature differences among cluster members.

C13 NGC 457 Owl Cluster - telescope processed image. Known as the Owl or "E.T." Cluster, its shape is formed by two bright stars acting as "eyes" and long chains of stars mimicking wings or arms.

C13 NGC 457 Owl Cluster - unprocessed image. While the brightest "eye" star, Phi Cassiopeiae, looks like part of the 7,900 light-year distant cluster, it is likely a much closer foreground star.

NGC 457 Owl Cluster - telescope processed image. This bright, open star cluster in Cassiopeia is often called the E.T. Cluster. Its two brightest stars, phi Cassiopeiae andHD 7902, form the distinct "eyes" of the celestial owl.

NGC 457 Owl Cluster - unprocessed image. Fun fact: Its star pattern strongly resembles the alien E.T. from the movie, with two bright stars forming its unmistakable, widely spaced eyes.

Woke up early enough to take the Odyssey Pro out as well. Here is a view of #NGC457 #TheOwlCluster. #unistellar #odysseypro #space #astronomy #amateur
