What are restrictive practices - and why are they harming children in schools? In some schools, children are still being physically restrained or locked in rooms alone. These actions can cause trauma, especially for children with disabilities.
This is a human rights issue Every child has the right to feel safe, respected and supported in school. But outdated laws still allow the use of ‘reasonable force’ against children—something that would never be acceptable in a workplace.
Parents have spoken OUT for years Families have bravely shared shocking stories: A five year old autistic child strapped in a chair A six year old secluded in a tiny room without parents’ knowledge These aren’t isolated incidents. They are part of a wider failure to protect.
It’s time for action We’re calling for: A ban on seclusion Repeal of outdated legislation Mandatory staff training Clear recording and oversight Children deserve better. Let’s make schools truly safe for all

However #DUP wanted to add an amendment that recognises and accepts the #UKSupremeCourt ruling on gender.
