In just the last 6 hours, @VaisalaGroup #NLDN has detected over 27000 #lightning events within 20km of #NewOrleans #LAwx. Black dots are in-cloud events (23503), red dots are cloud-to-ground (3509). A FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY is in effect until 10:45 for the city.
#DCwx A total of 4314 lightning events were detected by #NLDN between 6:43am and noon with the storm that went through DC this morning.
3967 events were In-Cloud pulses and only 347 were classified as Cloud-to-Ground.
