Esteban de Dorantes - Coronado National Memorial (U.S. National Park Service) Esteban, Estevanico, Estevan, Esteban de Dorantes, Esteban the Moor, Coronado, Narvaez, Cabeza de Vaca, Expedition, Spanish, Southwest

Esteban was a Moor from northern Africa. He survived the failed Narváez Expedition of 1527, and ended up shipwrecked in Tejas. He along with three Spaniard crossed much of the Southwest & later was the guide for the Coronado Expedition in 1561. #NMHistory #Estevan
