Tall vertical ridges of ocre-colored stone set strong edges for a rolling basin. A trail zigzags through that basin, leading in the distance to the singular opening in the ridges, a bright green meadow.

This painting (acrylic, 11"x14"x1.5" on cribbed wood panel) offers a view from the overlook of Park Avenue within Arches National Park. I treasure memories of my time within many NPS sites and call for their protection and support. #NPS #NPSart #ArchesNationalPark #acrylicpainting #supportNPS

Layers of sloped cliff faces recede into the distance, most in shades of orange and brown. The animated sky reveals glimpses of a brilliant sunset in bright yellow and orange, filtered behind lines of deep blue and purple rain clouds. Lightening forks between the darkest clouds and a distant ridge.

I loved my time at the Grand Canyon' South Rim enough to try to paint all those stratas. (Acrylic on 11"x14"x1.5" cribbed wood panel). The NPS is worthy of our support. #NPSart #NPS #acrylicpainting

A dark green foreground of grasses and moss supports a few spindly and mostly bare tree trunks on the left side and a clump of evergreen trees along the right side. Just beyond the immediate foreground a bit of light blue water - actually ice-covered that day - that is pressed against the steep slopes of the lake's edge beyond. The lower slopes are covered with banks of snow, but quickly give way to wrap-around granite cliffs and a distant glacier, all under the soft blue sky which fills the upper third of the painting.

This may be the earliest work I am willing to post, but i share as a tribute to one of my favorite places - Rocky Mtn. Natl. Park's Loch Vale. I salute and value the NPS for their many roles, including building important memories. ( #acrylicpainting, 24"x36" on canvas board) #RMNP #NPS #NPSart
