A fairly quiet afternoon at #NWTHickling yesterday with 4 Cranes and no Hen Harriers. The day ended in spectacular fashion though with 100’s of Pink-footed Geese going overhead and calling on their way into roost in the fading light. Genuinely awe-inspiring.

Great day’s Winter Birding in #Norfolk yesterday starting in the Thetford Forest area with 10 Crossbills, mostly lovely red males, and Siskins the highlights (sadly no Hawfinch) and ending at #NWTHickling with 9 Common Cranes, a very brief male Hen Harrier and a ringtail Hen at dusk.

A relatively quiet morning on the North Norfolk coast was transformed by news of a Black-winged Kite at #NWTHickling. We got down there and eventually got onto the bird. Distant and hazy views, couldn’t get any kind of photo, but great bird and good company. It was out there somewhere!
Normal for Norfolk. A Swallowtail butterfly on a reed - does it get anymore Norfolk than that?
