Hearing from Black bar applicants who are understandably so terrified of having to go test in Buffalo that they’re considering deferring, if they’re assigned there.
@NYCBarAssn, will you petition #NYBOLE to let applicants switch testing locations?
So is #NYBOLE going to reject my application for accommodations just in time for Christmas, orrrr...
I submitted my application on November 14th. This is all I have received.
It’s not like we need to plan bar leave and speak to our employers or anything, #NYBOLE. Take ur time.
Please don’t be gaslit. The pass rate was always going to be higher with 50% FEWER candidates than a normal year. #NYBOLE failed. Full stop.
I’ve already been radically transparent with everyone I work with about my disability. I’m proud of who I am, but also, I’ve *had* to talk about it. The #NYBOLE robbed disabled applicants of a normal entry into the profession. Must we really give up more?
Still radio silence from #NYBOLE on my accommodations application. Clearly they’re working hard on “improving communication.” 🙃
I know #NYBOLE plans to briefly reopen the application period for retakers after they get their Oct scores, but as far as I’ve seen, there’s no such reopening for accommodations applications.
So like...are disabled applicants who are still waiting on their Oct scores just SOL? Or are they expected to just apply early and incur substantial non-refundable fees, before they even know if they have to?
Classic #NYBOLE.
@JoAnneSimonBK52 @bradhoylman
Your daily reminder that the "98%" stat that @NCBEX and #NYBOLE keep citing to validate their beta test of a bar exam 1) only reflects successful LOGINS (not those who had trouble during the exam) and 2) does NOT include the ppl who were forced to withdraw ahead of time.
From a friend. Apparently #NYBOLE also told her that she better not have this problem tomorrow, and that she should "just find a different room."
Because *obviously* examinees have limitless space at their disposal for test taking. #barpocalypse
And right on cue, #NYBOLE slides into our inboxes to dangle the scratch paper carrot, in the hopes we’re desperate enough to grab it and move on.
This is all so painfully transparent.
Appending the "reasonable time" language I refer to above - which raises yet another issue. Does the fact that #NYBOLE will "direct" @ExamSoft to destroy the footage fill you with confidence that Examsoft will actually do it? Because friends, this isn't cutting it for me.
Sorry, #NYBOLE. Saying ~v confidently~ that you'll grade the online bar exam just like a normal UBE doesn't mean you can actually do it.
See this excerpt from @law_djm's letter (it's about MD but is applicable to NY - same cut score).
You are putting us at a clear disadvantage.
