Short term, #MayorMamdani should put the unsheltered people from the streets into hotel rooms w/ boarding plans, with little or no contact with meddling caseworkers except when the homeless request it. Longer term, he should repair the #NYCDHS shelter system, starting with the #Ombudsman 's office.
Instead, it should inform homeless people #HowToComplain in the #NYCDHS Shelter System, because its atrocious complaint-handling practices (ignore, retaliate, arrest, psychiatrize) is what makes them leave into the streets...

One of them was found at Third Ave. and 35th St., 10 minutes' walk from the #MainchanceDropinCenter and 15 minutes from the #BellevueShelter. Was he put out, turned away? Did he know there was #CodeBlue? Often, including today, the #NYCDHS falls #AsleepAtTheWheel and doesn't tweet announcements.
