A proper weather map, not this new fangled rubbish they give us, but something we can all read & understand. A surface level pressure map with isobars formed tightly around a moderately deep low just SE of Wellington drawing warm moist air from the tropics, colliding with cold anticyclonic cold air from the sub antarctic creating one helluva tight pressure gradient, resulting his gale to severe gale force winds from Kaikoura to Lower North Island, and as it's a stalled frontal system, sustained torrential rain to the East Coast of the south island. (I say this as a guy with a Masters in Meteorological infographics). Love a traditional map.
